where did eth1 go? [solved]

WTH?

ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~/wifi/DRIVER$ iwconfig
lo    no wireless extensions.
eth0   no wireless extensions.
ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~/wifi/DRIVER$ iwconfig eth1
eth1   No such device
ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~/wifi/DRIVER$

I had to reinstall, and somehow I lost eth1! (The device still works just fine in WinXP). K->System Settings->Network Settings does not display my eth1 either. In windows I'd tell the device manager to check for new devices. How Do I do that in kubuntu? How do I get the device back?

what card is that, pls?
could you pls also post the result of:

ifconfig -a

cat /etc/network/interfaces

and attach the result of:

sudo lshw

and

lsmod

i think that should be it.
not that i have a solution (as usual), but at least we have the info we need to get started...

thanks, but i just re-reinstalled. The wifi light was off when I installed, and I think maybe the installer didn't detect the hardware because it was off. So it never got set up. after the rereinstall it was detected, and I could go from there.
