Originally posted by ben_elliottWhy don't you just use the package manager "Adept" to apt-get firefox... it automatically configures and installs it for you.

Re: installing firefox
work around ...
install hoary install FF 1.5 then update hoary
insert breezy cd and add to repro's
update the system
change synaptic entries from hoary to breezy then update
go to KDE and add KDE3.5 to synaptic update and all will work
all i wanted was spellbound to work
which will not install on the Kubuntu OR Ubuntu installed version of FF ...

Re: installing firefox
Firefox 1.5 should install OK after unpacking the tarball and clicking on the firefox bin or shell script as long as you have the 386 architecture. If you are running the 64 bit version of Kubuntu you are in a whole new different ball game! Although it is possible.

Re: installing firefox
I realize this a FF topic; however, do you guys think the updated konqurer is now a viable web browser alternative?
* ie, the adblock feature imported Filter.G right in and works great.
* If I can figure out how to get tabs working like the ff extension tabbrowser, I might switch for a while.
I noticed also that konqurer is much, much faster than FF 1.0.7, though I have not yet tested ff 1.5.
