File system check

Why do I get this on boot ( I'm assuming every 20 times ):

" /dev/sda7 has been mounted 20 times without being checked, check forced " sda7 is our /home directories.

I thought an ext3 filesystem does this automatically in the background.

I use reiserfs - I get to watch fsck EVERY boot. 10 months of Linux, two hard crashes, zero data lost (knocking on wood NOW!).

Thank you, dibl. I set to 50. Seems to act only on the /home partition.
