    Wallpaper problem

    Hello,

When I find a wallpaper I like on kde-look.org, I right click it and select Set as Desktop Background. But it doesn't work. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Re: Wallpaper problem

Do you actually click the "Install" button when you find a wallpaper you want? Is it downloaded to your machine? Do you get any error messages?
I tried to install 1 wallpaper, after clicking "Install", the image was not downloaded and an error was shown: failed to install the wallpaper. I just picked another one (NIGHT) and it was installed successfully.
Maybe the wallpaper you want is bogus, just pick another one.

If you just save the JPG to your documents folder (whatever it is named), then
use GIMP to adjust the size you want, and copy it to your /usr/share/wallpaper
subdirectory you can pick that JPG while setting up your wallpaper for any Desktop.

      sudo cp home/user/docs/*.jpg /usr/share/wallpaper

      I like the Kdrop.jpg file!

        Re: Wallpaper problem

I have downloaded it and I have tried a right click on it without downloading it. On the one I downloaded, I tried using Gimp to resize, but it goes out of focus. Also, any wallpaper I right click on, on the kde-look.org website, and say Set as Desktop Background, does not work. I do not get any error messages, just nothing happens. I originally installed Ubuntu then installed Kubuntu over the top. Not sure if this is the issue or not.

Could you link to the wallpaper or wallpapers you're interested in? Sometimes the creator doesn't get the files uploaded correctly, or does something usual in packaging the files, so we'd be better able to assist if you provided us with a link to each wallpaper you're trying to install.

It worked! Saved in my wallpapers folder and it scales properly. Was something wrong with the wallpaper I was trying to use on kde-look.org??

Not with the image, but with the ]left-click[/u] on "download" opens the desired image in the browser, from where one can easily safe it locally ... go figure

Thank you. How would I be able to know this for future reference, if a link is bad? To me, it looked ok.

The problem is that the (usual) in such a case right-click merely results in the download of a php script

AH. OK. When I downloaded it and tried to resize using Gimp, it was all out of focus. I guess I need some Gimp skills.
