USB wireless recognized, can't browse Internet

    Hi all,

I recently installed Kubuntu 7.04 and was greatful to see wlassistant saw my Netgear WG111V2 USB wireless dongle. When I open wlassistant or go to the K menu/ and system settings (I think that's the right name)/Network settings it does see the dongle, it sees the network, and has 6 stars for signal strength. However, when I open Konqueror and try to go to a site I just get a blank browser page. Are there some additional settings I need to change to be able to reach the Internet?

I can get my way around the desktop fairly well, and understand the console/command line, but don't know most commands yet just so you know.

Please go to K>System>Konsole, at the console type the following commands and then paste the output here:

    ifconfig

    iwconfig

Don't know how experienced you are, but I have found it necessary to sometimes do an ifdown and then an ifup on my interface in order to get it to connect the first time.

@Bolowolf: According to THIS PAGE at the Ubuntu Community Help Wiki:
Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft supports the WG111v2 (rtl8187 chipset) with a native driver straight out of the box. Just plug and play. Strangely, there is also another WG111v2 that does not use the rtl8187 chipset and it will require ndiswrapper, so test for plug and play using iwconfig to determine if you need ndiswrapper.
So the question is which WG111v2 do you have? I suspect that the answer is the latter one, because if it worked out of the box on Edgy, it should work out of the box on Feisty. If you do have the ssecond WG11v2, look at the very bottom of the first page that I referenced.
