Is there a way I can remove KsCD without taking out KDE and kdemultimedia (as synaptic would have me do), or is it needed for other multimedia stuff

kdemultimedia is just a metapackage, for easy install an upgrade of common kde multimedia apps. So you can safely remove KsCD (and kdemultimedia) without affecting other multimedia apps. -

I have to disagree on this one,
well at least in breezy, I noticed that deleting a program originally installed by kubuntu-desktop, results in adept removing kubuntu-desktop and all the packages that are installed when installing kubuntu-desktop (sorry didn't know how to type it otherwise). It's strange this wasn't the case in Hoary.Comment
