I am using k9copy to rip a dvd and it took 1 1/2 hours to rip one dvd. I have never ripped a dvd before, is it normal to take that long?

I don't think that k9copy is meant to be a DVD ripper. According to the description "k9copy is a tabbed tool that allows to copy of one or more titles from a DVD9
to a DVD5, in the same way than DVDShrink for Microsoft Windows (R)." Try a different app.
