I/O Error: Boot

Hey All,

When I load the desktop cd and boot my computer, I get taken to the appropriate Kubuntu Load Screen; however, when I choose the first option, which is to start Kubuntu I get the following error message: I/O Error. Reboot Disk.

When my computer automatically reboots, the same error message appears. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this?

Some questions: Does the same thing happen in Windoze? What is on the screen when you get the message (is it black, manufacturer's boot up logo, Kubuntu logo, Grub menu, or ...)? What happens when you reboot manually (if you can)? Did you verify the md5sums of the downloaded iso and the resulting CD?
