Time for me to add another question to the thread
When I do ctrl+alt+enter to go to full screen mode, the screen fills up with the vmware window to my 1600x1200, but the size of my kubuntu still remains 1024x768, and when i go to system settings > monitor > i can move the resolution up but the refresh reate is 0htz, anywhere above 1024x768, so it won't resize.
any thoughts?

You can also find the tools on VMWare Server, a free download.

I haven't figured out this whole thing yet, but I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with Kubuntu. During install it recognized it was being installed inside VM and adjusted settings automatically!
