EDIT: All of these questions are solved (I think) except maybe the last one. THANKS!
Ok, I just installed Kubuntu and I'm completely new to Linux. I have a few questions. I've been searching (the forum and google) and I can't seem to find a solution to these questions.
Q1: If I try to change my resolution, the maximum option is 800x600. I've searched, and I keep finding different things that people say to do and I'm kinda confused... I think you have to do something with this file called xorg.conf. I opened the file in some text editor to look at it, and it has references to 1280x1024 (Resolution I want), but it won't let me select 1280x1024 in the system settings. What should I do?
SOLVED Q2: Every time I boot up, NumLock is turned off. Is there a way to make it automatically turn on when the computer turns on? (Didn't do a search on this one yet, but as long as I'm posting, I thought I might as well ask)
Q3: I can't seem to get my sound volume right. I have buttons on my keyboard to turn the volume up/down, but they don't work very well in Kubuntu. If I press Volume+ (on my keyboard), it shows a small window for a second that says Volume 10%. If I hit Volume+ more, it just stays at 10%. If I press Volume-, it jumps down to 0%. How would I make it so that I can press Volume+/- and have it so that it goes up/down by 1% each time I press it? (I tried to search for this one, but I wasn't sure what terms to search for, and the stuff I got was irrelevant.)
SOLVED Q4: How do I make it so my clock isn't military time?
NEW: Q5: If I ever log off, then log back on, the mouse cursor disappears until I restart. This is really annoying, how would I fix it?
NEW: Q6: I just downloaded supertux and it runs very slowly on my computer. Its fps is so low that I cannot even select an option on the main menu. Also, Euphioa (or something) and Flux and a few other screensavers run at about 5fps. They run full speed on someone else's computer that has much lower system specs. Anyway here are my system specs. AMD Athlon 64 3800+ ~2.4GHz, 1GB DDR RAM, Integrated GeForce 6150LE ~256MB
NEW: Q7: When I search, I see all the complicated ways to install Beryl Window Manager. I looked in adept manager, and there are beryl downloads. Can I just click beryl there and install it that way? Will Beryl run slow? (See Q6)
Thanks, please help!
