    Dvd drive detection problem

Hei. Was just attempting to install Kubuntu 5.1 onto my Acer Travelmate 4000 (laptop)

It got to the stage 'Detect and Mount CD-ROM' where it came up with an error saying 'Auto detection cant find common CD-ROM drive'.

It then gave me the option of loading the necessary drivers from the floppy, but my laptop doesn't have a floppy drive.

The dvd drive is a PIONEER DVR-K05 with the lastest firmware. The ubuntu v.5.4 cds run ok. Please help.

    Thank you.

    Re: Dvd drive detection problem

It's possible, That this drive is actuallt a firewire drive. I've seen that happen on some recent laptops. I'm not sure if the kubuntu installer knows to install those modules during OS installation.
