    Grub timeout 0

    Hi,

I wanted to have my main OS booted as fast as possible and I configured the menu.lst file with a timeout of 0s. I Thought that if I was fast enough I would still be able to choose my OS. But this does'n work (silly me ...;-) ). Now I can only enter my main OS which is Windows and I can't configure my menu.lst file when I'm in my windows. I tried already EXT2IFS but when I try to acces my EXT3 partition, where my Kubuntu is installed, it asks me to format it.

Can somebody help me out with this?

    Greetingz,
    d.O.LF

    Re: Grub timeout 0

get hold of a kubuntu live cd (http://www.kubuntu.com/download.php#latest)
    boot off that live cd.
mount your boot partition and edit your menu.lst.

Use Kubuntu CD/DVD -> Start Kubuntu in safe graphic mode -> mount your root partition -> edit /boot/grub/menu.lst

      or

      Get Super Grub Disk

Oops - Super Grub home is down.
      http://supergrub.forjamari.linex.org/

      Super Grub Disk Documentation Page
      http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzo...bDiskPage.html
Chances are, Super Grub Disk will be able to either fix your problem for you instantly, or at least boot your operating system for you so you can fix the problem after that.
      and

however they are having a few technical difficulties at that site right now for some reason. I'm told those will sson be overcome, but in the meantime try this alternate link if the first one doesn't work, http://forjamari.linex.org/projects/supergrub/

      or, http://sgd.howto-linux.de/ or else http://sgd.benjamin-butschko.de/
Super Grub is available as a .iso.tar.bz2, gz file for making CD-ROMs with.

There are also ZIP files available for Windows users.
For floppy disks there are .img.bz2 files you can download. There are also versions of Super Grub Disk for USB devices. To choose the best file download for your intended use, you should read carefully and pick out which type of file you need from the file galleries.
      Before you edit, BACKUP !
