    Empty Files (Resolved - thanks)

    Hi.

I've got a programme called KleanSweep which lists such things as 'empty' files and allows you to delete them en masse.

I ran the ap and got a list of 5856 empty files! The ap allows you to backup these files should you delete something that you shouldn't have - but I wonder; Why are there so many empty files?

Can anyone explain their purpose and tell me if they are (generally) safe to delete should I wish to do so?

PS I know I could delete them and see what happens but I'm not that good with Linux yet to recover from any resultant mess - so it would be a reinstall.

    Thanks
    Paul.

Your system will croak. Period. - There is absolutely no point in declaring files irrelevant solely because of "zero size", since (e.g.) all device nodes are of 0 B size - and still they are of existential importance to the system ...

      Thanks for the 'croak'.

I've read the 'device nodes' info and get the gist.

I shall remove KleanSweep and not be tempted again!

      Paul.
