I Passed! A+

I took my A+ Certification today. Hoody Hoo I passed. I'm very excited, although most don't understand. To me it is a milestone in my life. A new begining, so to speak.

Anyhow, thinkin about linux certification too I'd feel dsigusted If I paid money to learn how to aquire certification in a free product. That just don't make no sense. Anyone ever got linux certification without taking a course? http://certification.comptia.org/linux/default.aspx

I took a Linux class just because it was part of my school program... LPI and CompTia Linux+ are easy if you just download some exam questions and study and know what they are talking about.. Installation and Configuration is getting easier not like when I took it 10 years ago and RHL was a bear to install and configure..

The best way to learn what you need to know to get certified, (which is not the same as the easiest way to get certified), is to install the package "rutebook" and read it from end to end. This is the online version of the recursivley named, Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition. I regard it as a superb guide to Linux System Administration. You can also buy the dead tree version, which is probably more up-to-date.

SO I grabbed rutebook from adept. It says it is installed, but I can't find it

Well, I finished reading rutebook. There are some sections I need to go back and hit again. In the meantime... what should I read next?

If I were you, now that I had the big picture of Linux System Administration, I'd look at the exams to see what I didn't know, and go from there.

I was just searching through my old posts and came across this one. Since getting my A+ I also got my Network+ and my Linux+ and I'm working on Security+. It is humbling to go back and look at some of the old questions I've asked and see how much I've learned since then.
