    Wrong resolution on notebook

I've installed Kubuntu on a Dell e1505 notebook (no video card) and I can't raise the resolution from 1024x768. I need a resolution of 1280x800

    Help?

Did you make sure that resolution was included in /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

No I didn't, honestly don't know about it.

When I open xorg.config, the display listings all mention 1280x800, though

OK, use Konqueror and go to /etc/X11/ then right click on xorg.conf and choose Actions->Edit as root. Scroll down and in the Screens section, there will be a number of lines that begin with Modes. Make sure the line includes "1280x800". If not add it add the beginning just like the other resolutions. Then save and close then reboot. That should do it.

          Re: Wrong resolution on notebook

I might have edited my last post too late. xorg.conf already has all the modes listed as 1280x800. Any other suggestions on how to fix the wrong resolution?

I am not familiar with your laptop. Does it have an intel video chip (855, 915, etc)? If so, use adept and install 915resolution.

              sudo apt-get 915resolution
              or adept and select 915resolution

              Worked for me =)

Wasn't that what I said above?

I am familiar with that laptop and graphics card (see signature) so I was backing up your statement with a difinative affermative answer.

I was also making myself known in case Okay has other questions about that laptop. I got mine running great.
