kubuntu hangs when amarok is opened

hey guys. I'm having some problems here. I'm new to kubuntu, but not to kde. I've been using KDE on suse, fedora, and other red hat based os.

Anyway, my problem is my kubuntu simply hangs when I open amarok. At first, it works fine, until it prompts me for a installing mp3 support. When prompted, I also clicked on "ok" to install the support, but it wasn't able to. Right after that, my OS simply hangs when I turn kubuntu on.

Please give some tips on how I may go about solving this.

    Thanks

Do you have the "Universe" and "Multiverse" repositories enabled. Out of the box, Amarok is unable to decode mp3 files. Because of patent difficulties, (*)buntu does not include the mp3 (and a few other) codecs. You have to install these yourself. Amarok makes this very easy to do, (it does it for you). But, if you don't have the repos enabled Amarok will hang looking for the codecs package and not filnding it. Please see this page at the Ubuntu Community Help Wiki.
