Tabs in Firefox

I know this is probably going to be a silly question, but here goes anyway.

Anytime I click a link in firefox it opens a new window and doesn't open into a tab.
I have my Tab preferences set to open new pages in tabs selected but it still opens a new window.
What am I missing here?

Use this it works better than the default settings in Firefox for tabs and window settings.
