Installing Kubuntu, Need help with pre-existing RAID 0

Let me start by asking for pity as a Linux noob. I am changing to Kubuntu on my desktop because I have been running the Vista RC1 beta, and will be loosing it at the end of this month (something i'm not too sad about). However, I already have a RAID 0 configuration running 2 x 36gb 10000rpm drives. I had intended to boot into the LiveCD and use the disk & filesystems manager to format the drives and then install Kubuntu. I opened the disks & filesystems page and was told that "the module could not be found", something I have passed off as being run on the LiveCD. Then I opened QTParted to view the disk and format. Both disks are visible, however when I click on the first one in the list I get "critical error during ped_disk_new". Also, when selected, neither list "Format" as an option.

    What should I try next?

Please take a look at this page at the Ubuntu Community Help Wiki for a start. Use the search box on the Wiki to find other pages with additional information about RAID on (K)Ubuntu.
