    GAMES

I love to work with kubuntu and so do some of my clients, but Gaming is limited
I have found Americas Army, Quake4 (lesser graphics), counter strike, enemy territory to be as a native linux program and they work great

Cedega is a bit misleading or does not realy give a same alternative .
For example oblivion works but you will have to work with bad graphics and the bveautifull graphics is wat made this game great.

I know its not easy to let MICROSOFT (pardon te language ) Direct X 9 games work with linux..

Is there a better site with great linux games or is there an alternative to cedega wich is dissapointing..
What about the future? Linux is getting stronger and stronger.. will they be able to seduce a developper to make linux games and personally I would pay for a great game with great graphics...

Rumour has it that CCP are working on a Linux client for Eve Online... in the meantime it works nicely through Wine.

Games can be fun, no doubt.

You should visit this forum; Ubuntu Gamers Arena(http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=230).

Here are free native games for Linux:
      http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Native_Games
Here are games that you can buy(need wine, cedega…).
      http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Non_Native_Game

      And here are 4 new commercial native Linux games;
      http://www.enemyterritory.com/
      http://savage2.s2games.com/
      http://www.unrealtournament2007.com/
      http://www.penumbra-overture.com/index.php

      Enemyterritory is looking good

        Re: GAMES

As regards Cedega, I agree their marketing leaves a bit to be desired. First off, it's basically Wine with some work done to imprive DirectX compatibility. In fact, they just released a new version that greatly improves in that respect (including Pixel Shaders 2.0). For instance I had been running Guild Wars with a lot of the effects turned off, but with the new version I am running fine with all turned back on.

One of the main benefits of Cedega is that if you are running one of their officially supported games, you can get pretty close to Windows performance (and sometimes a little better). Unfortunately they don't make it clear what is supported on their web site and the list isn't terribly long.

If you are interested in asking about a particular game I will try to look up whether it's supported and see how users feel about it in the forums.

          Re: GAMES

well I would love to work with cedega again, if they deliver.

My main games are Call of duty 4, Medieval total war2 and Rome total war

Now when i play a game i want to see all those graphics work, not a bad graphical game , because my hardware is made for nice graphics

Also i want to install the game and see it working immediately without tweaking and searching for solutions.

So do you think cedega is mature now?

I have just tested the new cedega and i am pleased that it plays some nice modern games in full detail like oblivion, medieval total war..
