no DVDrom but I have feista on a DVD

hi, somehow I have never had much luck in upgrading, and I would just like to know if I add a pmcia external DVDrom drive what are my options

I will try to upgrade to edgy first then fiesta via the Internet but the ideal would be to load fiesta from the DVD
