    1. Best way to learn 2. Battery issues

Is it weird that my battery isn't charging in Kubuntu, but is in Windows XP?

In Kubuntu 7.04, when I plug the ac adapter in, it chargers...but only for like 1 minute, and then immediately goes to battery mode.

I have to go to XP to charge.

    Any help?

What would be the best way to learn how to use Kubuntu 7.04?

Should I read the included documentation under "Help" in the Kubuntu 7.04 desktop system, or should I read the tutorials that are in this forum's sticky? ( The name of that sticky is called "Useful Tips for newbies go here" and it is the first post)

I am just thinking that the "Useful Tips for newbies go here" sticky might be a little outdated.

To answer you question concerning "What would be the best way to learn how to use Kubuntu 7.04?" isn't 'straight forward.' Each person has their own unique way(s) of learning anything 'new.' I would suggest, that as you have already mentioned the two sources, that you at least scan each one. Both contain good information, but may not necessarily be to your liking. You may also want to obtain (or borrow?) any of the books that are available on basic Linux. While those won't (necessarily) be specific to Ubuntu/Kubuntu, having some understanding of how Linux works 'basically' will be useful.

I can't speak to you battery charging 'issue.' Although it sounds like a Power Management issue.

How to learn depends on what you want to do. I've found that just visiting these forums and when people post solutions to problems I have no idea about that involve editing certain files I just have a look at that file and have built up a decent knowledge of how to solve a number of issues that way.

Like others have suggested, everyone learns differently, but I think the best way is to just install it and see what you like and don't like and then change what you don't like. Make sure you have backups of data before changing anything major. I have killed kubuntu more then a couple of times and have learned how to fix it with the help of the forums. People on this forum are really helpful. Try to do a search before you ask though. Many of the solutions are already on here. There aren't that many different machines out there so most likely someone else has already faced any problem you might have
