    webcams and linux?

    i plan on getting linux and though ive bugged a freind with all sorts of questions i need help with something.

    i'd like to get a webcam that will work with both windows AND linux i want a high quality newish one but im not sure if i can get the driver for it with linux.

    thanks for any help you can give me and remember im new at all this so i'll need things explaining simply (terms and definitions)

    My newish Logitech QuickCam works great with camorama under Feisty, right out of the box. With Edgy and prior, I had to build a special USB driver, but no more.

          Uh-boy, I was afraid you would ask. It was so cheap, the model number only appears on the invoice, I think. I think it was a 300 or a 330 or something like that, but when I get home from work tonight I will pull out the actual evidence and report accordingly.

              im confused. I was told that model wouldnt work? Logitech 5000? thats a brand new one!

              well if it works then i'll get it - i was eyeing that one.
