Cannot export from Sunbird as ical/Cannot save from Firefox as txt

I'm using Breezy Badger and Sunbird 0.3.1 and notice that I am given no format options when I export a calendar from Sunbird. The calendar is exported as an html file.

Similarly with Firefox I am given no format options when saving a web page. It's "Web page, complete" or nothing.

I also run Windows versions of both these programs and do not have these problems with them.

I don't think these are preference or configuration issues but am not certain.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your attention.

From the FAQ for Sunbird:

What is the file format for Sunbird or Lightning?
Sunbird/Lightning uses a SQL-based storage mechanism based on SQLite. Local calendar files have the file suffix .sdb and can be found in the profile directory.

Sunbird/Lightning can also work with files based on the iCal standard. These files have the .ics file suffix and can be opened, imported, exported and subscribed to.

If as you say, Firefox has no option when saving as, then ...

Missing user interface elements

If some elements of the user interface are completely missing, then
your operating system might have incorrect settings for a file type.

For example, when you create a new event you cannot enter a start
date and time or an end date and time, because those elements of the user
interface are not displayed.

To work around this, check your operating system's settings for
files with the .xbl extension.

The MIME type of these files should be text/xml or
application/vnd.mozilla.xbl+xml to allow some features of the user
interface to work correctly.

Well, I can't find any .xbl files. Sigh.
