    Enabling Middle-click Scrolling in Firefox

Hi, for some reason when I middle click in Firefox it doesn't activate the scroll function (whereby you can scroll up and down the page using the mouse instead of the sidebar). I have managed to get it to work in Konqueror (it wasn't set to scroll by default) but it still won't work in Firefox. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

A point to start from: in Firefox, enter about:config as "address" and scroll as filter ... one of the settings displayed in result may need some "resetting".

If I'm not mistaken, go to Firefox's Edit menu -> Preferences -> Advanced option, then enable the "Use autoscrolling" option.

Thanks, that does work. However, it leaves a trail of the icon that appears when you middle click (the circle with the arrows) and scroll up or down. Is this a bug or something?

No, that's really how it's supposed to work. The circle with arrows disappears once you left, middle, or right-click anywhere on the page. On Konqueror, there is no circle but there are just arrows, and it behaves the same way.

What I mean is that the circle image with arrows gets smeared across the page i'm scrolling down (like a trail) and these stay on the page until I refresh it....

I don't have my autoscoll turned on in preferences and it works fine.
For all it's worth here is a copy of my xorg config pertaining to my mouse.
I have a samsung wireless 4 button mouse on ps/2.

              Section "InputDevice"
              Identifier "Configured Mouse"
              Driver "mouse"
              Option "CorePointer"
              Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
              Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
              Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
              Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
              EndSection

I hope that helps and good luck
              Cheers

Oh I see. No this is not a normal behavior and I don't know why it's acting this way.
