Re: Need Help with my Video
Issue the following command:
Code:$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
After it finishes you can either reboot or try:
Code:$ sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart

Re: Need Help with my Video
Hi again .
What video card driver you select?
What video card did you have?
Have you tried the vesa (works with everything but slow) driver?
Is there any error message in the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log, if there is one, please post it here?
This should be enough to keep you busy for a little while .

Re: Need Help with my Video
In the text wizard, you should be able to see a driver called vesa. That driver should work with near every card.
BTW, what Nvidia do you have? A new one?
If this is true you will need to install the Nvidia propietary drivers.

Re: Need Help with my Video
No go with Vesa. It is a couple years old, the nVidia and the drivers were already working. I was trying to change to a dual video output situation and thought i had it configured properly. I only turned it off to plug in second monitor.

Re: Need Help with my Video
Can you give us the ouput of the file /var/log/xorg.0.log.
You can just post here the error lines, or if you can't find them the whole file.
BTW, the card is PCI (similar problems in another post) or AGP (known to work)?

Re: Need Help with my Video
Whew,
I get no output from either log. Both say they cannot access when I type in.
It is a known good AGP card that was working in the system prior to my trying to switch to dual monitor.
When i reconfigure and then reboot with the restart command, I can not log in at all after boot up. I just get a undeline score.
