Adept package manager searches, and a plea to linux musos

Greetings from darkest China ( as in" If you dont want Windows and want to run Linux you should really use Unix", ( for a currently stand alone 1 user old laptop )).

What am I doing wrong?

Im doing simple searches in Adept for the packages for Midnight Commander and Gnome meeting, (think thats right), and getting nothing.

I would also appreciate the names of Linux equivalents of Guitar Rig/ Guitar FX, Guitar Pro, and pointers to music software in general.

Adept is very warm and cozy, until things dont work

install synaptic........which breaks down pkgs into categories and even provides brief descriptions of the pkg......as well as an excellent search tool.......you'll save a lot of time and searching that way......
