    Intel 945GM How the heck!!

I have a 945GM graphics card. Only 945 is listed on my K->System Settings->Monitor & Display->Hardware Tab->Configure Button. The Intel 945 is not an Intel 945GM but they do belong to the same family. I'm thinking this is the problem with my display bugs. :P Primarily my Native Resolution. (I have a horribly small 800x600 view when I should be at 1280x800!!!

    I downloaded the package here...http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...=2115&lang=eng
But the install instructions are FAR from helpfull. I can't figure out how to install it. Could someone download it and take a look and let me know what to do to figure this out? Thanks =)

Re: Intel 945GM How the heck!!

I'm not sure, but i think typing the three commands on

    http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/download.html

    into konsole should do it.
Dont forget to type sudo before each command.

that should download the drivers and install them. (i think >.<)
then you can look for them in the drivers list on system settings, and apply them, then restart X. (ctrl+alt+ backspace)

hopefully, you will be prompted witha GUI login screen, and all is well.

If not, you will need to reconfigure Xserver.

you will be prompted with a command line if Xserver does not boot. In it, type:

    Code:
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
if you get any other problems, I'm a linux newb but I'll do my best to help.

Re: Intel 945GM How the heck!!

      My Konsole
      ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~$ git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel
      bash: git-clone: command not found
      ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~$ git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/drm
      bash: git-clone: command not found
      ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~$ git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/mesa
      bash: git-clone: command not found
      ant2ne@ant2ne-laptop:~$
That didn't seem to work any.

And it maybe important to note: that particular link describes drivers for the 945, not the 945GM. I already have the 945, it is what I'm running right now, and it isn't the right one as my display is all screwy, and I can't get to my Native Resolution. I have downloaded a package (see my above post) that claims to include the 945GM drives, but I can't figure out how to install it.

Here is a copy of my xorg.conf just in case it'll help.
      # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
      #
      # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
      # values from the debconf database.
      #
      # Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
      # (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
      #
      # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
      # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
      # package.
      #
      # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
      # again, run the following command:
      # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
