Can't connect XP to Linux Share

    Hi all:
I'm new to the Kubuntu distro and Linux on the desktop. I have a LAN in my office with 2 WinXP machines, one Mac OSX machine and this newly resurrected Linux machine. I can access all the shared resources from the Linux machine including those on the Mac. BUT.....I cannot see the Linux computer from the PC's or the Mac across the LAN.

Does anyone have a relatively easy explaination and fix for this debacle?

    Thanks!

I think this is because Kubuntu does not install the full Samba package. Have a look at the installer, and see. If there are un-installed Samba, then install.

As nislA said kubuntu doesn't install the ability to share files by default.

You will need to install a package called samba. See here how to install software in kubuntu:

      https://help.ubuntu.com/6.10/kubuntu...lications.html

If you are new to linux, you should read all that chapter.
