Getting Blank Screen after Installing Kubuntu (or running from CD/DVD)

Problem: I'm getting a blank screen everytime I try to load Kubuntu (6.10). This happens from the CD/DVD or from an install.

Notes: Kubuntu seems like it loads ok because I get the Kubuntu screen that has the loading bar, but when it's done I get the blank screen. I've been reading different forums and most indicate a video card/driver issue. When using the CD/DVD I've used the F4 option to change from VGA to another resolution, but that does not work either.

My HD has 3 partitions. 1 has WinXP, 1 is storage, and 1 is for Kubuntu. The Kubuntu partions is really 2 partitions because of the way the Kubuntu partitioner works.

    Hardware:
    ATI x850 Pro (AGP 4x/8x)
    AMD 64bit chip

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Try alt-F1 and see if you get a login. If so you probably need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf because your video card isn't detected/configured properly.
