    Installing in Kubuntu

One thing I noticed that most people, myself included, find a turn off about linux is how difficult it is to install anything. Usualy we have to unpack a .tar.gz file (easy part) and then make the file, or compile it or something else. Why not make self installers for these programs? Or does anyone know of a gui installer that will take care of the operations without having to mess with the terminal? Such as I am trying to instal two linux games which require libraries I have never heard of, dont know where to get them or how to install them. Why not simply click on a setup file and wala program installed. I really love Linux so don't get me wrong but this is one thing that it rather annoying me. So any help would be appreciated.

Synaptic Package Manager is quite good. What are the two games you are trying to install called?

Also just got Synaptic, already have adept. Most of what I have downloaded and wish to install is not on their lists, if there a way to get them to install things I download that aren't on their lists? Thanks.

          Re: Installing in Kubuntu

The doomsday looks cool so I will look into that myself but as for the neverball just open up a terminal called Konsole located under the system menu and type the following
          Code:
          sudo apt-get install neverball
          Adding
This might be of some help to you and although it says ubuntu it works for Kubuntu

Not sure why that is, I just installed it because it looks fun and I haven't had any problems. Cool game btw.
