    Connecting to Ethernet network

    The Network Interface says it's enabled, and KInfo Center gives us three large checks and says the network is running, but we cannot find any servers whatsoever. >_>

    Yes, everything's plugged in. The network card gives us the green lights. And before we plugged it in here (new computer for us, we just bought it from a second-hand store), it was connected via Ethernet directly to a modem, whereas now it's to the router.

    Should we be making some changes? If so, which? =/

    Can you provide more specific information?

    What do the tabs under System Settings->Network Settings show?

    Can you post the output of the commands 'ifconfig' and 'route'?

      Re: Connecting to Ethernet network

      Turns out my brother in law works a lot with kubuntu and the like. He's going to fix it, and connect it.

      I'll be watching him like a hawk and posting the solutions here for anyone who has the same/similar problem.

      It WAS the communication between the router and the computer, something set so that the computer could see the router, but not browse the internet. I messed it up even further than that. =/ So. Whatever he does to fix it, I'll post here.

        All my brother in law did was a hard reset of the router (changing back to default settings) and it worked. -_- I feel so dumb. ;_;

          Hi to all expert guys

          I'm having the same problem as the first post. Kubuntu installation goes without problems, everything OK BUT.... network doesn't work
          I have broadband internet connection (dynamic IP - DHCP)
          The Network Interface says it's enabled, KInfo Center says the network is running, but can't connect to the internet.

          what is wrong?!

          can anyone help me? I'm completely new in Linux 8)
