i have no sound on my computer. period. no amarok, no Internet, nothing.

Ummmm -- can you give us a hint? Did you have sound when you ran the live CD? Do you have sound with other OS installed? Is your hardware commonly available, or is it specialized in some way? Have you searched this forum and also Ubuntu Forum for a sound problem with your sound chip? -

well i got it to work now. after looking around i discovered that Linux wouldn't let me use the same sound ports that windows did so all i had to do was plug it into a different spotComment

I have a dell... and I have no sounds other than the log on and log off sounds. But I got a laptop, so I can't switch the ports
Any advice?
