    Ok, stupid question time!

Alrighty, I had to swallow all my pride to make this post. Somehow, messin with my display settings, either in beryl or kde, I managed to put some kind of button bar on the left had side of my desktop. This bar has a bookmarks, history, home, networking, root folder, and a few other little buttons.

How did I get this thing? And how do I get rid of it?

This is called the universal sidebar. To get rid of it, right-click on the Main panel, select Remove Panel -> Universal Sidebar.

    Hope that helps.

Right click the bottom bar on your desktop (called the kicker main panel) and hover over Remove Panel. Click the thing that comes up and says "Universal sidebar (left)". Your panel (which has the button bar) should now be removed.

EDIT: Ant2ne posted answer while I was typing so you may disregard what I said (it's the same thing).
