Unable to import packages

hello,
I get the this message Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg -open
Unable to lock the administration directory /var/lib/dpkg -is another program using it. when I use the command sudo apt-get and any application .

Try this command to fix it:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

thanks mate,

it was that simple. but i am swithching from SuSE(Novel) to KUbuntu so i guess part of the new learning curve.
