    KUBUNTU ONTO UBUNTU FROM DVD...

    Hi,
I have been using Ubuntu for about 6 months (single boot no MS)
I want to install Kubuntu onto Ubuntu (w/o loosing things I have installed on Ubuntu etc) from DVD (downloaded and burned)

Can someone guide me through this?

    Thanks

Open up a Konsole and type:

    sudo apt-cdrom add

It will ask you for a disk and then add it to your sources.list.
    then just:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

The only problem you should have is that there are probably more current packages available and they will be seen via the internet and downloaded from there. For speed I would just shutdown your connection to use the disc or just download the packages you want.
    ~$sudo make me a sandwich
