    Samba configuration

I have finally got Kubuntu set up so it is working pretty well.

I now want to make it connect to my LAN. I have it connecting to the internet with no troubles. I am a GUI kind of guy and I am SURE that I saw a menu item that let me configure samba without using the command line. It had 4 items in the GUI interface and one was 'New connection'. Does anyone know where the heck this GUI configurator is located? I saw it once but I don't remember where it was. PLEASE, I don't want to try every menu item ;-)

    Thanks

    Dave

I suggest Smb4k. Just click click.
    ~$sudo make me a sandwich

Thanks for that. What I was referring to was included with Kubuntu. I am sure I saw it just yesterday but now I can't find it. I may just install what you suggested and cry when I find what I first saw. Thanks for your help.

        Re: Samba configuration

Into a Konqueror address bar just type:

        fish://(ipaddressofthemachineyouwantotconnectto)
        ~$sudo make me a sandwich

If you already have shares in place...
Open konqueror and type in the address:
          smb:/servername/sharename

Where servername is the name of the computer that has the share and sharename is the name of the share. You may be prompted to login with a userid and password.
If this doesn't work make sure you have installed smbclient and smbfs
(at a konsole prompt: sudo apt-get install smbclient smbfs)
I believe you will find that smbclient is already installed but smbfs may not be.

Thanks for your help. I am now able to see the shared files on 2 Win98 boxes and an XP box.

Now all I have to do is get Kubuntu to show it's shared folders to the Windows boxes ;-)
