    System Backup

Hey, I've been using Kubuntu for a few months, and I'm a little nervous about loosing the progress I've made. I have only had to reinstall the OS once, and am quite excited about that. I was wondering if there was a good way to backup the system configuration files in the event I mess something up. I would like to do this fairly often.

    Thanks!

      Re: System Backup

I've used many of the backup methods that are suggested in these forums, but when I have tried to restore I haven't had success. That is not to say they don't work but I would suggest using Partimage to backup the entire partition. That is a safe way to ensure you get everything. I had planned on writing a walkthrough but then I found the link that follows. I believe this post has the best advice all the way from partitioning during install to backing up those partitions.

If you want to experiment with backup software that will do incremental backups and other things, at least start with a complete partition backup, you'll be glad you did.
