    Best version of kubuntu to get xgl on it?

    Hi! i'm interested on getting kubuntu on my pc but. Im thinking to get kubuntu and then put beryl , xgl and that stuff which I have not to much idea. Is kubuntu a good support to get something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLTHhgtP3WU&eurl=

    its difficult to get?¿ i need a really good pc to get it? what main process ill have to do to reach to that amazing environment¿

    Do a google search for beryl. The forums here have quite a bit of information about it as well.

      I'm running it on Kubuntu 6.10 (edgy) and it works fine,
      it depends on what kind of video card you have .... if you have an nvidia or ati the process should be pretty easy as for the others I'm not sure.

        it really isn't about which k/ubuntu.
        it's more about which graphics card.
        i used AIGLX on my old laptop with the Intel i810 integrated chip.
        beryl worked fine, without xgl.
        i have a new laptop with an nVidia card, now.
        beryl works fine, without xgl.
        it never worked without my fiddling with xorg.conf, though.

          download and burn Edgy Eft. It will boot as a live CD.
          Open the terminal and type this :

          Code:
          glxinfo | grep direct
          It it returns :

          direct rendering: Yes
          You should be good.

          I used this script to get Beryl installed and it worked great.
