    Network disabled on boot

I installed kubuntu with my Cable modem disconnected and thus no networking turned on (paranoid like that :? ).

Now, when I boot kubuntu, the internet is turned off and has to be manually enabled from system settings. All I have t do is choose "enable" and it works. But why isn't it enabled by default and how do I make it automatically enabled when I boot up?

    setup:
built in Lan card -> Cable modem -> Internet.
    No network.

    Thanks

Networking is still a mystery for me, but I did get some good advice in the thread "Different levels of networking" http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=13829.0 when I encountered problems that had some similarities with your problem.

Not the same problem, though. I was able to fix most of my problem, and the last disappeared after the next upgrade.
