Here are 2 links you can look over. HP printer are usually well supported in linux.

Thanks, but not very helpfull. I have Canon ip1600 (cost $29) that according to those links should work with ip2200 - it doesn't!!! I am not alone who have trouble to make it work.

So, I was thinking to buy another inexpensive printer that will work... ,but it seams that most of the cheap printers supported by Linux are old and can't be found in stores (Fry's, Circuit City etc)

      Help!!!

I bought a used HP Deskjet 5550 from ebay for $11 (Australian). It's a big, fat, ugly old thing but it works beautifully. Installed easy as.

          Hi igorft
One of the idea behind those links was if you saw a cheap printer you could check to make sure that model would work with linux before you bought it.
What drivers are you using for your Canon ip 1600 ? This link shows that you need a recommended driver and gives you link to it.
          https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupp...sPrintersCanon

This link shows which driver you should be using and says that printer mostly works.
          http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...n-PIXMA_iP1600

As long as you already have your Canon and it should work for you just need to figure out why. Check the driver. Are you getting error messages ? How are you connecting it to your computer ? Did you do a search here on the forum and see if someone else had problems and got it to work. Buying a new printer may not fix your issues.
