Guess you used the oem install?

Quote from " How do I Change the Setup Username and Password " at http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=244927 :

"To properly complete an OEM install, you have to run

    sudo oem-config-prepare
This will delete the OEM user and, on next reboot, complete the OEM installer by asking you who you are, what timezone you're in, etc. I know you want to keep the OEM user as someone with admin privileges, but when it sets up the first user with the OEM configuration tool, it'll give that user admin privileges like you want."

      Re: password wont work

When you try to log-on. Try:
      1) username: oem
password: the password you chose ;or
      2) username: oem
      password: (blank)

If one of them succeeds, open Konsole Terminal Program and input:
      sudo oem-config-prepare

        Re: password wont work

Once I was in my Kubuntu OEM installation (having read your message above and typed "OEM" for my username, then the password I'd given the system during the install), I searched until I found Konsole, then ran sudo oem-config-prepare. It asked me the language and timesone questions, and after the reboot I was asked to login again.

I wasn't given the opportunity to assign a new username or password! I wasn't able to create a new account! And now even my OEM username isn't recognized! I'm locked out without a chance!
