Repository takes 30 minutes for headers

Using Adept updating it used to fetch the headers in 20 seconds.
Over the last 3-4 days it has taken up to 10 minutes for the last three to get down!
Is everyone experiencing this?

They are:
kubuntu.org edgy Release
and this line is repeated three times. but with a different line following it

I don't know if it is important or indeed whether it needs repeating 3 times (many of the lines look identical! For instance
kubuntu.org edgy Release.gpg

I hope it's OK to do this, but if anyone could advise a newby as to whether this list is good I'd be obliged. I got his list from etc/apt/sources.list - I couldn't find an adept folder.

If, as your email address suggests, you are in Hereford UK then yer repositries are wrong!

The general pattern of a UK repository is:
deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy universe multiverse (-note the gb)

Suggest a little visit to Ubuntu sources.list generator at http://www.ubuntu-nl.org/source-o-matic/

How cool is that!
The gb bit did seem obvious - I just didn't know whether you had to do both!

Q1) The seveas thing - I have no idea what that is...

But I did have this
deb http://packages.freecontrib.org/plf/ edgy free non-free
and
I also had all the proposed ones

which isn't/aren't in the generator.
Q2) Any advice or shall I ditch it/them?
I am NOT after beta stuff - too much learning to do to dare get anything wrong yet!!

Q3) I also had all the deb-src versions. Presumably i don't need them if I am a happy user of Adept?

1) Normally installation should put in the proper, basic repositories. If you live in, say, Hong Kong you should get repositories appropriate for Hong Kong.
2) Seveas is a kosher repository. It can for example be used to get Flash 9 final.
3) PLF stands for Penguin Liberation Front. I think they were closing down. Did you not get a message that this repository could not be loaded? I think it was replaces by Medibuntu. See e.g. http://medibuntu.sos-sts.com/www/ I have Medibuntu.
4) You could probably dump Seveas and PLF if you wanted too -it would do no harm. You could always reinstall if necessary in the future.
5) Keep deb-src !
6) You might be a happy user of Adept but I suggest that Synaptic is better and you should try it. Open Konsole Terminal Program and input:

sudo apt-get install synaptic

Incidentally I tried to get synaptic like you suggested and....

Package synaptic is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package synaptic has no installation candidate


However - adept had it!!!!!!!!!!!!
