    kubuntu 64bit installation

    Hello everyone!
This is my first post so bare with me!
I am trying to install kubuntu 6.10,after selecting start or install from the menu igot a kernel panic error message.
The message was "-not syncing:io-apic+timer does not work".
It suggested using the "noapic kernel parameter"which i have done.
Only now there is no gui for the installer just a command line prompt.
When i LS form the prompt the result is "desktop" highlighted in blue.
I beleive that you launch the installation from a desktop gui,is there a command to use from the command line to restart the gui?
I have already installed xp and i am looking to dual boot
The machine it is gong onto is as follows:
    Amd64 5000 dual core processor
    Asus m2n32sli motherboard
    2 gb 6400 corsair ram
    Nvidia 8800 gts graphics card
Any help for a noob would be really appreciated!
    the trooper.

    Re: kubuntu 64bit installation

    Hi,

I know there was troubles with AM2 socket motherboard. Maybe you should look in the forum for solution.
Anyway, I would try to install by the alternate cd after you will have time to fix all issues...

    Cheers
