Change to Current Supported Releases Structure and Posting

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front). The Sub-Forums in Kubuntu 25.04 Plucky Puffin have been closed to further posts, and Kubuntu 25.05 Plucky Puffin has been opened to posting. None of the other Forums/sub-forums in Current Supported Releases are affected by this change. Posting to them remains as is, unchanged.

Why did we make this change?

In July, KFN will have existed for 20-years. We have supported 39 releases of Kubuntu, from 6.06 through 25.04 currently, each having between 7 and 9 sub-forums. Do the math, and that's a lot of individual forums to manage. And, all of those forums and there posts are still available in KFN, though all but the current three EOL releases are hidden (but accessible by specified URL).

Having that many forums creates a significant demand on the resources that constitute the software we run KFN on - vBulletin. So a change in how we structure KFN; Current Supported Releases section specifically; has been contemplated for some time now; years actually. Given that we just recently opened Kubuntu 25.04 Plucky Puffin, it was decided that now would be a good time to make the change.

    What did we change?

Kubuntu 25.04 Plucky Puffin has been opened to posting and all its sub-forums Topics have been moved into Kubuntu 25.04 Plucky Puffin, given Topic Prefixes, and the sub-forums closed and hidden. In order to still identify what the Topics are being created about; what the sub-forums served; we have installed a vBulletin MOD that requires a new Topic to have a Topic Prefix. A new Topic cannot be posted if a Topic Prefix is not selected. The Prefixes are:

    [Pre-Install]
    [Post-Install]
    [Desktop]
    [Hardware]
    [Software]
    [Network]
    [Soapbox]
    [System]

These Topic Prefixes serve the same purpose that posting in the sub-forums did. With this change, all Topics and their posts will be within Kubuntu 25.04 Plucky Puffin, but each Topic will have a Prefix, and that Prefix is linked to a Search, so clicking on a Topic Prefix will return a list of all Topics with the Topic Prefix. Kinda cool.

Feedback is welcome, but please be constructive. Telling us "It sucks!" isn't helpful.
