KDE SC 4.4 rc1 Now Available for Karmic users

Packages for the first release candidate of the KDE Software Compilation 4.4 are available for Karmic.

    Add this repository to enable:
    ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta

    You can issue the command
    Code:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta
This will add the repository and import the correct authentication key for the it.
Some packages will be removed, including some kdepim packages, but this is correct as there are some packaging differences from 4.3.x to 4.4.

Users of the Lucid development release are advised not to upgrade yet, as the packages are only half-built due to a breakage of the underlying graphics stack. The Ubuntu Xorg team is working fervently to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Users of our stable 9.10 release can install it from the Kubuntu Beta PPA.

For both Lucid and Karmic, virtuoso packages are available. Install both the virtuoso-server and virtuoso-driver packages to enable Nepomuk support.

Support questions should be taken to the Karmic board

    Please take note:

KDE SC 4.4 RC1 is not stable software, as such, it is not suitable for everyday or production use. KDE SC 4.4 RC1 is aimed at testers and those who would like to have an early look at the next KDE SC release.
