Currently we use the monolithic knetworkmanager. Upstream tells me
that the plasmoid is now in a better shape than knetworkmanager and
advises us to switch to it. If we are to switch we should do so
before Beta 1 next week and with lots of testing. So testers needed
using the following procedure...

applet version of KNM for Lucid assuming we get it to run reliably?

The > Kubuntu Experimental PPA seems to have:

plasma-widget-networkmanagement (0.9~svn1099313-0ubuntu1~ppa1) lucid

but nothing forbids to experimenting with the Karmic - it is an experimental PPA .

I am having the issue mentioned in the Ubuntuforums thread. Plymouth stopped working for me in the latest update (yesterday night). I have to remove splash in grub in order to login. Anyone knows a launchpad report to add my info? This is a show-stopper for release!

Plymouth isn't done yet. It's still under active development and isn't ready for distros to use as-is.

Of course that means we get to be the guinea pigs.

@lmilano, go here and read the changelog. My ubuntu install dropped me to VTTY1, all the while it was booting the desktop to VTTY7. So a simple Alt+F7 resurrected my desktop

Does anyone know what the Kubuntu Splash will look like? All I ever see is the Ubuntu one. I'd rather have a Kubuntu splash not Ubuntu.

Plymouth at here /1/


The normal (fast /3/) boot was: Grub - kdm - ksplash - KDE

If there was disk check etc. then the boot was: Grub - plymouth /2/ - kdm - ksplash - KDE

Post the plymouth 0.8.0~-14 the boot is stopping to the Plymouth screen. Adding the "nomodeset" is a workaround at here. Earlier > Re: Alpha 1/2 Hickups (Xorg/Mesa/Radeon).

Maybe this is a plymouth bug ? > Plymouth bugs.

I don't think that there is (released) Kubuntu plymouth theme. There are for the 'buntu:
- standard ubuntu theme
- lubuntu-plymouth-theme
- xubuntu-plymouth-theme

Maybe it will be simply black background with the Kubuntu logo + the bullets.

0.0.0.0.0.0.1, the pre-alpha alpha. It works, it looks OK, but it is
temporary and we needed something in the repos so we can easily fix it with
the new artwork as soon as that is ready...
