but it seems that the patch is a bit too powerful > Strigi Search won't autostart.

A workaround is to add the strigi call to the autostart. System Settings > Advanced > Autostart.

Fast lane is to add an executable script to the ~/.kde/Autostart/:

Hello all,

I want to raise attention to the Kubuntu developers and testers about
the necessity of testing the ISOs during milestone testing.

The release team has a policy (during Betas, RC and Final releases) of
not releasing Ubuntu or its derivatives until EVERY testcase has been
covered.

Tomorrow, most likely, the first RC candidate images will be appearing,
and you can start preparing today...

grateful if you could test it and report any problems that might be packaging

There is a major mem leak in X, and any help testing is crucial at this point:
