yeah, saw this earlier...picked it up for my wife's mac, and my laptop...wow...killer deal! I'm hoping it will run publisher on my wifes mac, and from my research, it should.

Wow I hope I'll get my network running to use this on Kubuntu!
So what do I do with the file once its downloaded??
Do I run it in konsole, do I do this as root or as normal user??
I'm magnet for errors, problems and bugs...

I'm told you do this, as a user:
Code:
wget -Nc [url]http://path.to/file.sh[/url]
chmod +x file.sh && ./file.sh
I haven't done it yet, so I can't swear that's correct.

Looking at it, I assume that after you've downloaded it, it's just:
Code:
chmod +x file.sh && ./file.sh
at the directory where you have the file.

One thing I did notice with the Chrome build that Codeweavers put out last month (?) was that it may have slightly borked my existing Wine install... so I would suggest people keep that in mind if they already have many Wine apps working flawlessly...

Nothing deadly mind you, but I recall some weirdness from it...

It lets you run a lot of Windows programs. If I understand it correctly, CrossOver is a superset of Wine.

I run my Windows stuff in VMware, so I'm not real swift on wine and/or CrossOver.

I think it was more useful back a few years ago when Wine was a real pain to get setup... these days, at least with kubuntu, I never have the mountain of issues I used to get...

Hm, I wonder how it performs on games, especially those which require directX which I have never been able to get to work on virtualbox...

I'll let you know if it plays Morrowind better than Wine does.

Darn. I missed it. Tried a couple of times and could not get into the web site. Probably too busy. Now it's too late.

Well i've downloaded it (bugger the bandwidth ), installed it, and without bothering with any of the useless office stuff installed my favourite game, Morrowind.

I've just stepped off the boat and wandered into town, and it certainly plays much smoother than with Wine, although i haven't tried anything... adventurous as yet.

I am impressed. Highly.

Edit:
by "adventurous" i mean fighting things.
