Upgrading libc6 to 2.7-9ubuntu1 will trash your hardy system.

If you already have, downgrading libc6 version is a solution:

and thought I would share this with those who haven't upgraded yet.

yep, i just spent hours figuring this out. in the end, i just did a clean install, then fixed my /etc/apt/preferences to say:

Package: libc6
Pin: version 2.7-5ubuntu2
Pin-Priority: 1001

And it's going to stay this way until libc6 is fixed

Worked for me.

heh, I still trashed my kde4-hardy alpha6 install thanks to adept update stopping during the configuration of downloaded updates...
I think I will stay very far away from adept and use "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade" instead until the bug #158043 is fixed

Good plan. Especially since synaptic has its problems with kde4 alpha as well
