Says here Beta release is March 20:

I'm running Alpha 4, and it's not bad, to be honest. If you want to give it a spin, here's a link:

If you install it, stay away from KMenu>System Settings for the time being.

I'm in the process of making old parts into a pc for the kids, and sorta new parts into a new case for me. I want to go w/ hardy (for mine) but worry about ''beta'' If I install beta, will it be an easy update to stable when it's released? and how stable is kde4 ff3 hardy etc. right now? I don't want to do any thing to drastic that'll peeve the wife.

Yes, just install the updates as they come available and you'll be running the release version once it is released. (the repositories stay the same)

Can't speak for ff3 (I don't use firefox), but kde4 is in usable state (though far from perfect). Still, if you don't wish to 'rock-the-boat' go with kde3 (3.5.9), you can always install kde4 on the side if you wish.

Note: Standard alpha disclaimers apply, there's no guarantee hardy won't break before the release (even though it's rather stable at the moment)

EDIT: to clarify, hardy is still alpha, beta should come around in a month or so

Congratulations to Jonathan Riddell and the Kubuntu crew, seems they final have Ubuntu with the KDE desktop done right. Now this seems to be something worth celebrating. WOOT!

I installed Firefox 3 and haven't had any trouble with it except that it runs rather slow. That may be FF3's fault, or it may be related to other computer issues that I'm having at the moment. Not sure yet. All around, though, I like FF3.

              Hope that helps.
